While RVC councillors may be popular in their respective divisions and there were certainly some successes achieved by council, those achievements were unfortunately overshadowed by four years of in-fighting and needless scandals. The vote on Oct. 18 is therefore a crucial opportunity for County residents to consider how they would like to see the next four years play out.

Dear editor, I have issues with Scott Strasser’s qualms about proportional representation (PR).

Dear editor, I was rather flattered to see unnamed people willing to spend the money necessary to take out a full page ad criticizing my recommendations for Rocky View County council in the Oct 5, 2021 edition of the Rocky View Weekly.

Dear editor, You imply that PR results in unstable minority government. However, the Canadian government formed after this year’s election will last at least four years, as did all the previous governments. That is not instability.

Albertans are preparing for their second trip to the polls in less than a month, but different issues will be at the forefront this go-around.

Dear editor, I agree with Airdrie-East MLA Angela Pitt – I have also lost all confidence in Premier and UCP Leader Jason Thomas Kenney.

Election campaigns always result in the promotion of big ideas. While it’s great to see candidates dream big, some of those big-ticket ideas will not be feasible this term, if the City’s economics are facing the challenges the mayor and some of the incumbent candidates are saying they will.

It was nice while it lasted, but looking at the alarming spike in Alberta’s recent COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths, it’s fair to say the provincial government’s “Free for Summer” plan was an unmitigated disaster of an idea.

Dear editor, I just read [last] week’s Rocky View Weekly and am disgusted by Bruce McAllister’s advertisement. Who does he think he is, criticizing residents who raise questions about how Rocky View County is run?
